September 14, 1942 ----- February 26, 2018
On Monday, February 26, 2018 a loving God reached down from heaven and gently lifted the soul of His beloved Rev. Daniel Allen Pritchard to carry him to his eternal home as his loving earthy family sat by his bedside. Dan entered his earthly life September 14, 1942 in Galt, Iowa.
He was adopted by Allen Coy and Nellie (White) Pritchard at an early age. Allen and Nellie went to the orphanage to look for a cute little girl to adopt and went home with cute twin boys, Danny and Denny. The boys were raised in a Christian home in Burlington, Iowa where Dan accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior as a young man.
It was at the church in Burlington that he met the love of his life, Marie. They were married February 20, 1966 and four children were born to this union.Dan worked at several occupations as they raised their family. He worked at everything from being a police sergeant in the Moberly, Mo police department, to being a baker, to being a substitute school teacher, to working at a funeral home. These jobs were to provide for the family, for he was always a good provider; however, these jobs also allowed him to be bi-vocational for his real passion, to serve God in ministry.
Dan had surrendered to preach the gospel in Newton, Iowa and would serve as pastor of churches across MO from Mt. Salem in Plevna, Sue City Baptist Church in Sue City, Novinger Baptist Church in Novinger, Corinth Baptist Church in Macomb, MO, First Baptist Church of New Franklin, and most recently the Vanzant Baptist Church of Vanzant, MO. One of the greatest joys of Dan’s ministry was his numerous mission trips to the Nation of Jamaica. He had a deep love for the people there and especially his brother in Christ Rev. DelRoy G. Sittol.
Dan enjoyed growing beautiful flowers in his yard. His love of beautiful things allowed him to color beautiful pictures in adult coloring books as his health diminished. He was a well-read gentleman who could discuss many events with others. He knew more of the answers to the Jeopardy questions than anyone in his family. He enjoyed spending time watching TV, especially western movies, he said he would have liked to have been a cowboy in the old west. He was always ready to listen to good southern gospel music.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son, Brendan Pritchard. He leaves his wife of 52 years, Marie, two sons and their wives; Shaun and Suzi Pritchard, and Rev. Allen and Amy Pritchard; and one daughter, Andrea Pritchard and son–in-law Bruce Nichols. He is also survived by six grandchildren; Lane and Ethan Pritchard, Braunson and Brooklyn Nichols, Nathan and Emmalynn Pritchard. He is also survived by his twin brother and his wife, Dennis and Joanne Pritchard. He will be greatly missed by special brothers-in-law and their wives, John and Marcia Millspaugh; and Dick and Carol Millspaugh and a step-brother-in-law Mike White and a step-sister-in-law Jan Kane. His church family will miss his presence greatly as well as a host of other friends who will miss his sense of humor.
Funeral services are planned for Thursday, March 1, 2018, at 12:00 in the Corinth Baptist Church, Macomb MO. A visitation is planned on Thursday March 1, 2018 from 11:00 until the service also in the Corinth Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers family would appreciate memorial contributions to the Moneague Baptist Church St. Ann, Jamaica which was so dear to Dan’s heart. All local arrangements are under the care and direction of Ava Family Funeral Home.
