21 May 1864 ---- 12 November 1940

George Hanson was born May 21, 1864 in Uskedahl, Kvinherrad, Norway, and passed away from this life at his home at 414 North Cadwell Ave., Eagle Grove, Iowa; Tuesday morning, Nov. 12th, at the age of 76 years, 5 months and 21 days. He was baptized unto Christ, received instruction and confessed his Christian faith. In 1884 he came to America, to Story City, Iowa, later he came to Thor. In December, 1891, he returned to his native home in Norway, where he was united in marriage to Miss Alida Myklebust on February 26, 1892. In March, that same year, Mr. and Mrs. Hanson came to Iowa where they lived at Thor for some years, they then lived near Eagle Grove on a farm for several years, moving into Eagle Grove in 1903, which has since been their home.

He is now survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Sophie Coppinger, Fort Dodge, and by one son, Gerhard Hanson, Eagle Grove. Also by five grand daughters, by one brother, Halvor O. Hanson of Eagle Grove, Iowa and by two sisters in Norway.

Mr. Hanson was a faithful, hard working, honest man, one of that kind of men on whom you can always depend. He was frugal in his habits and well satisfied with his lot in life. He was a kind and considerate husband and a good father. Death came suddenly and rather unexpectedly. He had been out to shovel some snow in the early morning, and came in somewhat fatigued, sat down in his chair and the end came.

Funeral services will be held today from the Kubitschek and Kastler funeral home. Burial in the family lot in the Rose Hill cemetery.
