December 13, 1896 ---- September 26, 1967

HARDY - George Francis Hefley, son of George and Mae Olden Hefley, was born December 13, 1896, near Hardy, Iowa, He died September 26, 1967, at the age of 71. He was united in marriage to Julia Jondle Landry April 9, 1946, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. They continued to live on the farm west of Hardy, where he had lived all his life. Survivors include his wife, Julia; a brother, Lawrence; a stepson, Richard Landry; two step-grandchildren; a nephew, John; a grandnephew and a grandniece; an aunt, Mrs. Arba Olden; and several cousins, Also surviving are the Lyle Cathcart and George Trotter families. Lyle and Lola were raised by Francis Hefley's mother and have always been considered as members of the Hefley family. Mr. Hefley was a member of the Hardy Co-op Elevator board, and was serving as secretary of the W & H Oil Company at the time of his death. He was affiliated with the Hardy Methodist Church. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, September 29, 1967, at the Hardy Methodist Church. The clergyman was Rev. C. Wilbur Egeland. Music was furnished by Mrs. Marshall Clancy and Mrs. Dick S. Hefty. They sang "Be Still My Soul" and "Beyond the Sunset."

Casket attendants were Harold Pannell, Maclyn Clancy, Leland Swan, Lyle Larson, Clarence Hobbs and Carl Patz. Honoeary casket attendants were Marshall Clancy, Myron Clancy, Raymond Saxton and Paul Weyer. Interment was in the Vernon Cemetery near Hardy. The Blake Funeral Home of Renwick was in charge of arrangements.
