HARDY - Pearl Irene Lockwood, daughter of George and Emma Lockwood, was born at Hardy, Iowa, September 30, 1902. She passed away Friday, September 22, 1967, in the Mercy Hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa, at the age of 64 years, 11 months, and 22 days. She had been admitted to the hospital the previous day. Miss Lockwood, a lifetime resident of Hardy, is survived by one brother, Floyd of Cedar Falls, Iowa; one sister, Mrs, Evelyn Mack of Hardy; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Floyd Lockwood of Cedar Falls and Mrs. Elsie Winter of Burt, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Charles and Walter.
Funeral services were held Monday, September 25, at the Hardy Methodist Church with the Rev. C. Wilbur Egeland officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Marshall Clancy and Mrs. Dick S. Hefty. They sang "What a Friend We Have In Jesus" and "There Will Be No Dark Valley When Jesus Comes." They were accompanied by Mrs. Lawrence Nielsen on the organ. Interment was in the Vernon Cemetery near Hardy, The casket bearers were nephews of the deceased, Earl Lockwood, Harold Lockwood, Merlin Lockwood, Dale Lockwood, Homer Lockwood, Gerald McConnell, Arnold Clark and Henry Freis. The Blake Funeral Home in Renwick was in charge of the arrangements.
Out of town relatives and friends attending the services were F. H. Lockwood and Homer Lockwood of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald McConnell of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; C. M. Lockwood of Marion, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Dale Lockwood and Mrs. Elsie Winter of Burt, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Lockwood of Fort Dodge, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Lockwood, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Freis, Mrs. Daryl Freis, Mrs. Loyd Larson, and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hagge of Humboldt; Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Clark of Spencer, Iowa; and Mr. and Mrs. John Reveland of Charles City, Iowa. Also attending from Iowa were Mrs. Esther Olson and Miss Irene Doden of Lake Mills; Mr. and Mrs. Lester Stacy of Moorland; Lester Bonstetter of Okoboji and daughter, Mrs. Dona Tebben of Corwith; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Oviatt of Goldfield and Mrs. Howard Dasch, Mr. and Mrs. Verle Winter, and Everett Winter of Renwick.
