He was drafted into the United States Army in 1952 during the Korean War. He was stationed in Korea where he served as the gunner on a half-track and attained the rank of Corporal. Don worked as a forklift operator for Concrete Products for many years until his retirement at the age of 62. He loved to watch television, often having several on at the same time. He enjoyed attending auctions, photography, bicycling, and coffee with Bob Taylor at Hardee’s and Ampride. He especially loved spending time with his children, often taking them horseback riding, roller skating, and to drive-in movies.
