Alvin M. Andersen, 96, of Hampton, Iowa, met his Lord on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at Franklin Country View Nursing Facility in Hampton. Services will be Sunday, March 4 at the Church of the Living Word in Hampton, Iowa at 12:30 PM.

He was born on October 31, 1921, in Clarion, Iowa, to Anton and Margaret (Murray) Andersen. Al graduated from Clarion High School and Iowa State University. He served his country in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II as a fighter pilot in a P51 Mustang. Al was united in marriage to Maurine McGuire on September 2, 1945, in Holmes, Iowa. He was a former teacher, farmer and retired as a county extension director.

Al was a member of the Hampton Rotary, Masons, Chamber of Commerce, Fair Board and the Iowa State Alumni Association. He was involved with the Ag Forum (Founder), 4-H, was on the Rural Development Committee, NACAA (State President), ISUEA Executive Board, Franklin County Hospital Council and Review Board, and Community Resource Development. Alvin was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was a current member of the Church of the Living Word, where he was once an elder. He wrote a weekly news article for the Hampton Chronicle and Sheffield Press and had a weekly broadcast on KIFG Radio. Al enjoyed golfing, fishing, gardening, farming and watching Wheel of Fortune.

Al is survived by his wife Maurine Andersen of Hampton, son Ronald Andersen of Hampton, son David (Maria) Andersen of Latimer, daughter Kristi (Scott) Everett of Latimer, grandchildren Jeff (Nicky) Andersen of Tomball, Texas, Jennifer (Kevin) Aguillard of Opelousas, Louisiana, Renee Gray of Bastrop, Texas, Jeremy (Julie) DeCarlo of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Bruno Correia of Campinas, Brazil, Victor Correia of Campinas, Brazil, Melissa Correia of Latimer and Connor Everett of Phoenix, Arizona, great-grandchildren Anthony DeCarlo, Madeline DeCarlo, Colton Gray, Dylan Dupree and Madisen Andersen, great great-granddaughter Aubrey, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Anton and Margaret, son Paul, sisters Norma Blilie and Elaine Hawley and brothers Orville Andersen and Tony Andersen.
