Marjorie Ann Kohout of Lisbon, Iowa, died on Jan. 11, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon. Visitation: one hour prior to the service. Burial: Lisbon Cemetery.
Marjorie is survived by her children, Paul (Betty) Kohout of Lisbon, Terry Kohout of Cedar Rapids and Jean (Steve) Novak of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Jason Kohout, Ben (Alicia) Kohout, Angela Kohout, Brett (Carley) Kohout, Dan (Nikki) Kohout, Stacy Remerowski, Brian (Jenny) Novak and Brandon Novak; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Faith Tiner; sisters-in-law, Maxine Hennessy and Ellen McCutcheon; and brother-in-law, Donald Kohout.
Marjorie was born at home to George and Jessie (Gangstead) McCutcheon on Dec. 17, 1921, at the family farm in Goldfield, Iowa. She graduated from Goldfield High School [1939] and from AIB, Des Moines. Prior to her marriage, Marjorie worked in the office at Quaker Oats.
She married Milver Kohout in Goldfield on Aug. 7, 1946, and together they operated their farm in the Solon area. In 1958, they bought their farm in Lisbon. Marjorie enjoyed her life on the farm, gardening, cooking and sewing. She was a devoted wife and mother who cherished Milver, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marjorie was beloved by all and she will be dearly missed.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milver; her son, Jim Kohout; her brothers, Richard McCutcheon and Howard McCutcheon; sister-in-law, Virginia McCutcheon; and brother-in-law, Ray Hennessy.
Memorials are suggested to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the American Cancer Society.
