January 5, 1852 --- December 16, 1938

Sylvia Howard Sherman, daughter of Rev. Daniel Treadwell Sherman and Clara Howard Sherman was born Jan. 5, 1852, at (?) and passed away at Boone, Iowa, Dec. 16, 1938, (?).

During her childhood, the family (?). While living (?) she graduated from high school and engaged in teaching (?) 1874, when she was married to Norman Bangs of Plainfield, Ill. They located at (?) and later moved to Plainfield, Ill., where they remained until 1882, when they settled at Humboldt, Iowa, living there until October, 1889, when they moved to Eagle Grove, which place has been her home the greater part of the time since.

Seven children were born to them, Clara, deceased; Oscar, deceased; Theadore of Eagle Grove; Mrs. Ella Dembar, Albuquerque, New Mex.; Mrs. Louise Thompson, Santa Fe, New Mex.; Mrs. Florence Wilson of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Donald of Fort Dodge. Also surviving are one brother, Dr. George Sherman of Kansas City, Mo., and one sister, Miss Ella Sherman of Atlanta, Ga.; four grandchildren and one great grandson.

By her marriage to Dr. Henry P. Stipp of Lakeport, Calif., on Easter Sunday, 1928, there are three step daughters, Mrs. Mary Howard, Mrs. Lois Eiseman and Miss Adah Stipp of Lakeport, and several step-grandchildren.

After Dr. Stipp's death in August, 1932 she again made Eagle Grove her home until December, 1934, when she became a resident of the Eastern Star Home at Boone where she peacefully passed on Dec. 16, 1938, after having suffered a paralytic stroke two days previous.

Mrs, Stipp united with Congregational church early in life and had always taken an active part in church work. Later in life she identified herself with the Eastern Star order and the Equality Club, in both of which she took great interest until failing health incident to advanced age caused her to leave that work to younger hands.

Mrs. Stipp was a good mother and loyal friend.

A daughter of Rev. Daniel Treadwell Sherman and his second wife, Clara Howard, Sylvia was first married to Norman D. Bangs on 07 Aug 1873 at Fulton County, Illinois. After his death, she next became the third wife of Dr. Henry Peter Stipp on 09 Apr 1928 at Eagle Grove, Iowa.
