John Raymond Jones was born in Fort Dodge and was a long time resident of Goldfield. He taught school at the high school in Goldfield. He was a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa and received his Masters Degree there also. He was a veteran of World War II. He retired in 1980 as a claims specialist with Job Service of Iowa. He had been with them for 16 years. His wife, Ruth McCutcheon Jones, died in 1961 while living in Goldfield. He was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church in Council Bluffs.

John Raymond Jones, 76, Council Bluffs, died Saturday, September 28, 1991, at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs after suffering an apparent heart attack. He is survived by a son, Bruce of Victor, N.Y.; a daughter, Candy Hamling of Council Bluffs; a brother, Willard Jones of Eagle Grove; and four grandchildren. Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, at East Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield. The Rev. James Seibert, pastor of Goldfield United Methodist Church, officiated. The Beem-Belford Funeral Home of Council Bluffs was in charge of arrangements.
