January 26, 1917 -- March 23, 1988

Lewis L. Christensen was born January 26, 1917 at Goldfield, and was the son of Atta and Chris Christensen. He graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1934 and was a charter member of the Epsilon Chapter of the National Honor Society. He graduated from Iowa State University in Aero Engineering and started his aviation career with Curtiss-Wright Corporation. In 1948, he moved to California and became a supervisor of the Propulsion Systems of the North American Aviation, now named Rockwell International. He retired after 30 years of service and lived in Eagle Grove during the summer months, and was in farming partnership with his brother, Verne. Lewis was a registered professional engineer, a pilot and has had a number of articles published in engineering journals. His hobbies included his farming and antique automobiles.

Lewis Christensen died March 23, 1988 at his winter residence in Oceanside, Calif., at the age of 71. He, was preceded in death by a brother, Howard. Survivors include his sister, Mildred Norris, Clinton; brothers, Harvey, Denver, Colo.; Virgil, Cedar Falls; and Verne, Eagle Grove; and many nephews and nieces.

Memorial services were held Saturday, June 4 at the Memorial Hall in Eagle Grove. Rev. Scott Hall conducted the services and music was provided by T. C. Thomas and Sally Thomas.
