Wayne L. Mason, 73, of Goodell, IA, died, November 23, 2017, at Trinity Regional Medical Center, Fort Dodge, IA. Wayne was born January 8, 1944, son of Francis and Opal (Lein) Mason in Belmond, Iowa. He graduated Belmond High School, class of 1962. Wayne was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Anderson on February 7, 1970, and together they had four children. Through his years, Wayne wore many hats and touched many people. Raised in Goodell, he dedicated many hours of his life to taking care of the community and serving several terms as Mayor. He also had a passion for the outdoors, from hunting and fishing, to slinging hay on the farm. Wayne enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and was recently able to meet his first great grandchild. He also had a very special place in his heart for his nephews, Travis and Christopher Nolte.

He was a man of few words, big ears and a laugh that could fill a room. Though he will be greatly missed, his countless stories and memories will live on.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his step-father Edward Petersen, three sisters, Leola Lunning, Marilyn Halloran, Wanda Finn and brother Walter Mason.

There will be a Celebration of Life at the Goodell Community Center on Sunday, December 3rd, from 12-3 p.m. There will be a short service at 12:00 with a lunch and sharing of memories to follow. In lieu of flowers or plants, the family asks you to please consider a monetary gift to be used at their discretion. Andrews Funeral Home - Belmond, Iowa
