Thelma Sebelius, 94, Fargo, ND, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, in Touchmark at Harwood Groves Assisted Living. Thelma was born February 12, 1923 in Kikungshan, Honan, China to Norwegian missionary parents, Rev. Herman and Dina (Tonnessen) Fauske. The family immigrated to the United States in 1927 where her father had churches near Dennison, MN and later in Eagle Grove, IA. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1941; the Swedish Hospital of Nursing, Minneapolis, MN in 1945; and from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN in 1948.

She married Calvin Sebelius on November 19, 1948 in Moorhead and they lived in several ND communities before moving to Valley City, ND in 1957. She worked as an obstetrics RN at Mercy Hospital in Valley City for many years and was active in many community organizations and Our Saviors Lutheran Church. The couple moved to Fargo in 1995, spending summers at their lake cottage and winters in Naples, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, three sisters, and her husband. Thelma is survived by her children, Beth (Perry) Hanson, Shoreview, MN; Steven (Paula) Sebelius, Moorhead, MN; Debra (Craig) Becker, West Fargo, ND; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A private service will be held for the family. Inurnment will take place at Riverside Cemetery Mausoleum, Fargo. Memorials are preferred to a charity of your choice.
