Myrtle Irene Cleveland was born on August 15, 1906, near Goldfield, Iowa, to Walter and Mae Cleveland. She was educated in the Goldfield and Vernon Consolidated School System. She married Roy Rice in 1925 and they had four children. They were later divorced. On February 13, 1943, she was united in marriage to Laurence Sadler of Eagle Grove. They lived near Goldfield, at Blairsburg, at Fort Dodge, and later, retiring to Humboldt. She was a cook at the Blairsburg Schools and then did house redecorating.
Myrtle Irene Sadler died Tuesday, December 16, 1997, at the Humboldt North Care Center in Humboldt after a lengthy illness at the age of 91. Survivors include two sons, James Rice, Battle Creek, Iowa, and Esteol Rice, Concord, Calif.; a daughter, Beulah Rice Beisell, Mesa, Ariz.; one sister, Anamae Helferich, Caldwell, Idaho; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Laurence; a son, Milton Rice; a brother, Wesly; a sister, Edna; and a great grandson, Kevin Rice.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 20, 1997, at 10:30 a.m. at the Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove with Pastor Kenny Stokes of Oakhill Baptist Church in Humboldt officiating. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery at Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
