May 27, 1898 ---- June 22, 1898

John R., the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Kearney, died Thursday morning of spinal meningitis. After a short funeral ceremony at the house, Mr. Kearney, accompanied by John Bowes, went with the remains to Carroll. Mrs. Kearney was unable to go. At Boone they were met by a large crowd. Owen Dougherty and sister Mary and Mary O'Neil accompanied tbem on to Carroll. Here the little babe, whose life had only bloomed to fade so soon, was laid to rest by the side of another little baby. Mr. and Mrs. Kearney have the heartfelt sympathy of all.

Mr. and Mrs. B.J. Kearney arrived in the city today with their infant child, who was buried in St. Joseph's cemetery this afternoon. The little one lived but a few weeks and Mr. and Mrs. Kearney have the hereafter sympathy of their many warm friends in Carroll in this bereavement.
