Margaret "Martie" L. (Ralston) Eck, of Humboldt, formerly of Moville, passed away Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at Humboldt Community Hospital. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt, with the Rev. Alberta Ervin officiating. Burial will be in Indian Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Ubben-Lentz Funeral Home in Humboldt.

Martie was born in Renwick, Iowa, on Feb. 6, 1929, to Edgar A. and Verna H. (Bittinger) Ralston. Edgar moved the family to West Union, Iowa, then to Washington, Iowa, and finally to Waterloo, Iowa. Martie graduated from West High School in Waterloo in 1946. She continued her education at teacher's college in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Martie was united in marriage to Donald D. Eck, of Jesup, Iowa, on Aug. 24, 1947. Her faith was strong and she was active in the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt as well as Velda Rose Methodist Church in Mesa, Ariz.

Survivors include her children, David W. Eck (Paula) of Cedar Falls, Deborah L. Adam of Slinger, Wis., Nancy Jo Anne Cameron (Bill) of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Andrew D. Eck (Kathy) of Dakota City; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; many nieces and nephews; and a special pen pal of 74 years, Margaret Davidson of Perth, Scotland.

Martie was preceded in death by her husband, Don; parents; brother, Milo F. Ralston; sister, Dorothy Mae Ralston; brothers-in-law, Keith, Ken and Wendell Eck; sisters-in-law, Rosemary Ralston, Eleanor Borrett and Bobbie Cochran; and special friend to the family, "Uncle Joe" Shirk.

Memorials may be made in Martie's name to UnityPoint Hospice in Fort Dodge, Iowa, or donations can be handled by the family.
