James M. "Jim" Lacore, 89, of Tecumseh, [Kansas] passed away on October 18, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Belmond, Iowa, on May 27, 1928 the son of Clyde and Anne (King) Lacore. Jim worked as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic and Foreman for the Western Contracting Company until his retirement. Jim and his family moved to Tecumseh in 1980 coming from Newhall, California. He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying and creating metal art. He built and refurbished several airplanes including Piper Cubs and Baby Ace aircraft. He married Ethelreda Menke on September 7, 1949 in St. Killian, Minnesota. She predeceased him on June 22, 2012. He is survived by his children, James R. Lacore (Valleri) of Topeka, Gary L. Lacore (Maria) of Orange, CA, Gail M. Becker of CA, Dan L. Lacore (Lori) of Flower Mound, TX, Jayne M. Lacore of CA, Janet M. Loehrke (Timothy) of Herndon, VA, and Linda M. Super (Jay) of Wichita, KS, 24 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Dean Lacore (Lucy) of Kissimmee, FL, Pete Lacore (Mary Lou) of Cynthianna, KY, Patricia Jansen of Minneapolis, MN, and Bill Lacore (Carol) of Red Wing, MN. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Tom, Kenny, Brian and Don Lacore. Jim was cremated.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, October 27th after 2:00 p.m. where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 5:00 p.m.followed by the family receiving friends until 7:00 p.m. at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Matthew Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 28th. Inurnment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Matthew Church sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas.
