Funeral Today For Hannah Howland
Mrs. Hannah Howland, 84, died Monday night at the Rotary Ann Home here. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Surviving are a brother, Ludvig Townswick, Vortveik, Midhammer, Norway; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Thompson, Montevideo, Minn.; and Mrs. Lena Tegland, San Francisco, Calif.

Hannah Townswick was born in Hardanger, Norway and married Ole Howland in Des Moines in 1909. The couple farmed in Lincoln Township for many years, retiring in Eagle Grove. Mr. Howland died in 1966.

Hannah Howland was born July 8, 1885 at Jondal, Hardanger, Norway to Kristoffer and Kristine Townswick. She was baptized into the triune faith shortly after birth. She renewed her baptismal covenant through the rite of confirmation. She died at the Rotary Ann Home. Eagle Grove, on January 12, 1970 after reaching the age of 84 years, 6 months, and 4 days.

She came to Story City as a young woman and was married to Ole O. Howland on March 4, 1909 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Des Moines, Iowa. They farmed near Story City until March, 1913. At that time they purchased a farm in Lincoln Township, Wright County. Mr. Howland retired from farming in 1944 and they moved to Eagle Grove. For the past 1-1/2 years she has made her home at Rotary Ann in Eagle Grove.

She was preceded in death by her husband. Ole O. Howland and two brothers, Sam and Olaf Townswick. Those who mourn her departure are two sisters: Mrs. Nellie Thompson, Montevideo, Minn, and Mrs. Lena Tegland, San Francisco, Calif.; one brother: Ludwick Tungeswick, Bortvick, Midhammer, Norway.

Funeral services were held January 15 at 2:00 at the Evangelical Lutheran church; Rev. H. W. Schiller; internment in Rose Hill Cemetery.
