March 22, 1932 --- September 4, 2014

Tom Keith, 82, of Oskaloosa, passed away, Thursday morning, Sept. 4, 2014, at MHP Hospice Services Serenity House in Oskaloosa. Thomas Frederick Keith, son of Harry Galen and LaVaun (Liberknecht) Keith, was born March 22, 1932 in Jefferson. He attended school in Jefferson and then enlisted in the Air Force where he attained his G.E.D. and served in Guam and Korea. After his discharge he returned to Jefferson. He married Shirley Anne Dennhardt, Jan. 5, 1954, in Jefferson. Tom’s first employment was working at service stations and he later took a sales position selling auto supplies and tires. The family moved to Ames, where Tom took a sales position with Man-An-So Company selling feed. They later moved to Pella and then to a farm north of Oskaloosa in 1982; in 2006 they moved into Oskaloosa. Tom was a member of the V.F.W. and the Eagles. He enjoyed reading, particularly his Bible and enjoyed visiting with friends and family.

His family include his wife of 60 years, Shirley Keith, of Oskaloosa; a daughter, Roberta Keith, of Oskaloosa; a granddaughter, Keli (Matt) Watson, of Forest Hill, Mo., and a great-grandson, Lincoln Steven Watson; a sister, Betty Rather, of Watsonville, Calif., brothers: Gary Keith, of Reno, Nev., and Larry (Judy) Keith, of Salem, Ore. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by three brothers: Laverne, Richard and Donald Keith.

As was Tom’s wish, his body has been cremated and no services are planned at this time. Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at 207 Third Ave. W., Oskaloosa, IA.
