Ivan Peder Wingaard was born on June 26, 1906, in Oslo, Norway, to Peder and Nikolena Olson Wingaard. In August of 1930, he was united in marriage to Borghild Orsland at Eagle Grove, Iowa. He was later married to Dessie Brady on March 8, 1967, at Elk Point, S. D., who died on February 14, 1985. He farmed south of Goldfield, Iowa, in the Evergreen Community until the farm burned in 1931 and he moved to Eagle Grove. He went to California during World War II and worked as a welder at the Kaiser Shipyards. After the war, he moved to Des Moines, Iowa, and worked at Solar Aircraft as a welder. He then moved back to Eagle Grove and worked for the City of Eagle Grove. He was a member of the Church Of The Open Bible and the Odd Fellows Lodge.

Ivan Peder Wingaard died Tuesday, October 5, 1999, at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove, at the age of 93. He is survived by four children, LaVonne Bige, and husband, Kenneth, Clear Lake, Iowa, Nadine Winter, Oskaloosa, Iowa, James Wingaard, Eagle Grove, and Roger Wingaard, Eagle Grove; his first wife, Borghild Wingaard; nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and one nephew, Curtiss Torgerson, and wife, Beverly, of Salt Lake City, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents; second wife, Dessie; three brothers, Alman, Peder, and Einar; and one sister, Hilda Torgerson.

Funeral services were held Thursday, October 7, 1999, at 1:30 pm at the Church Of The Open Bible
in Eagle Grove, with the Dr. Lloyd Meyer officiating. Burial was held in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
