Fred M. Bell, age 63, of Belmond, IA, and Dows, IA, native and long time owner of Bell Recycling and Sanitation of Belmond, IA, died Monday, September 25, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City, IA, with his family at his side. Funeral services will be Friday, Sept. 29th, 11 AM, at Belmond United Methodist Church, 1031 1st St. S.E.. Pastor Philip Arnold will be officiating. Burial will be in the Belmond Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM Thursday at the Andrews Funeral Home, Belmond, and will continue one hour prior to the services at church Friday.

Fred Milton Bell, was born May 7, 1954, in Hampton, IA, the son of Archie and Dorothy Bell. He grew up and attended the Dows Community Schools. IN early adulthood he moved to Nebraska where he was employed for a time as a laborer. He eventually returned to Iowa, where he met his future wife and life partner, Pamela Kuhlers. The couple was united in marriage on April 12, 1975, at Bethany Reformed Church in Belmond, where Fred was a member for most of his life. Their union was blessed with two daughters Becky and Tally.

Fred was employed in various jobs in the earlier years of his life working as a house mover, construction worker, bowling alley pin setter, and in a gas station. His hard work ethic and wish to own his own business led him to commence a career in the sanitation industry where he started Central Iowa Sanitation forty years ago, which today he and his wife still own and operate and is known as Bell Recycling and Sanitation based out of Belmond, servicing hundreds of clients, both, commercial and residential in towns throughout the region. At one time his business was the largest sanitation hauler in the area. Fred spent countless hours in the cab of his trucks during his career.

In his precious times away from his business he enjoyed nearly anything in the outdoors, but likely was most fond of deer hunting with Duane and others to northeast Iowa. He had also been elk hunting and enjoyed pursuing other game and fishing. He was very patriotic, loved to be an American, and never turned down a good conversation about politics of the day! He loved times spent with his wife, daughters, and the grandkids, and they had recently fulfilled one of his "Bucket List" wishes making a trip to Disneyland in California as a family, shortly before the health issues that took his life arose. Fred loved 50's music, especially Buddy Holly and others of that era and enjoyed going out to dance to the oldies.

Fred will be remembered as a proud husband, dad, grandpa, and friend to many, who was big in stature, but soft as a teddy bear inside. His family will miss him dearly.

His memory will be carried forward in the hearts and minds of his wife, Pam Bell, Belmond, IA; daughters: Becky Bell and her children Payne and Madison Pingel, Webster City, IA,; and Tally Bell and her son Walker Milton of Belmond; sisters Doris (Bob) Hodge, Iowa Falls, IA, Karen (Larry) Thayer, Belmond, and Viola Claude, Dows, IA; brothers Archie (Jeannie) Bell, Boone, IA, Gene (Mary) Bell, Idaho, Charles "Chuck" (Cindy) Bell, Dows, IA, and Jim (Cindy) Bell, Latimer, IA; and in-laws: Marlin (Linda) Kuhlers and Ronnie (Shelly) Kuhlers, all of Belmond; as well as other family members and numerous nieces and nephews.
