May 16, 1906 --- January 28, 1994

Magnus E. Otteros, 87, died at the Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion on Friday, January 28. He was diagnosed with cancer on January 3. A Memorial Service for Magnus E. Otteros of Clarion, was held from the Chapel of the Willim Funeral Home in Clarion on Tuesday, February 1, at 2 p.m. Pastors Tom and Debi Hankins from Vernon Lutheran Church of rural Dows officiated. Burial of the ashes followed the memorial service at Vernon Lutheran Cemetery.

Magnus was born in Bergen, Norway, on May 16, 1906, and was the son of Andrew and Mari Olson Otteros. He came to the United States in 1927, to Chicago, Illinois. He later moved to live with his brother in Williams. On January 7, 1939, he and Jeanette Tilghman were married at the Lutheran Parsonage in Clarion. Magnus operated Otteros Corn Shelling and Trenching, but spent most of his life working as a painter. He received his citizenship papers in 1947. During the years, they also lived in Galt, Clarion, and Boulder, Colorado.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jeanette; daughters, Mary Lou Bohlke of Marshalltown and Judy Kay VanCleave of Boulder, Colorado; brothers, John of Williams, and Hilmar of Bergen, Norway; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both parents, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, and one great-grandchild.
