December 9, 1902 ---- September 1, 1987

Edna J. Filble, 84, Clarion, died on Tuesday evening, September 1 at the Community Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient since Friday. Funeral services were held on Friday at 1 p.m., from the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerald G. Swanberg officiating. Burial followed at Evergreen Cemetery and the Eyler-Willim Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Betty Loomis was the organist and Bud Young the soloist. Casket bearers were Herb Lester, Sam Douglas, Wally Hagen, Bill Quintus, Orville Steffenson and John Nelson.

Born at Martin, Iowa on December 9, 1902, Edna was the daughter of William and Phoebe Burmaster Scott. Shortly after her birth, the family moved by covered wagon to Illinois and later lived in Missouri and Iowa. On April 4, 1923 she was married to Lawrence W. Filble at Garner. They lived there and in Omaha and Peoria before moving to Clarion in 1928. Survivors include her husband, Lawrence, one daughter: Mrs. George (Sally) Boyington of Clarion, three granddaughters, Diane, Deb and Susan, and two sisters; Mildred Quintus of Eagle Grove and Jeanette Sieckman of Grand Island, Neb. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters and an infant daughter. Mrs. Filble was a member of the Clarion United Methodist Church and when her health permitted, had been active in the ladies groups of the church.
