Perry, Iowa - Donald Goodman, 86, of Perry, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Services were held Friday, Nov. 21, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Perry. Burial was in Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry.

Donald Goodman was born Jan. 15, 1917, in Dows, the son of Harry Christopher Goodman and Valborg Christine Larsen Goodman. He grew up in Peru and attended Peru High School. He married Amy Johnson on Nov. 19, 1938, at the Vernon Lutheran Church in Dows. He worked as an auto body technician and was the owner and operator of Goodman Motors. He retired from Woodward State Hospital as an auto mechanic. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed woodworking, square dancing and gardening.

He was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Dean Goodman and his twin brothers, Wesley and Leslie Goodman. He is survived by his wife, Amy Goodman; two sons, Larry Goodman and Daniel Goodman, both of Perry; two daughters, Theodora Sayles of Waukee and Judith Stout of Baton Rouge, La.; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Stella Anderson of Des Moines and Florence Lee of Perry; and one brother, Clyde Goodman of Perry.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family and left at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry, which was in charge of arrangements.
