Mrs. Tillie Schroder Laid To Rest

Funeral services for Mrs. Tillie Schroder, who passed away last Thursday, were held from the Galt Congregational church Saturday afternoon with Rev. Harold Sanders in charge. Mrs. Blanche LaBarr and Mrs. Clara Hipp sang, "Life's Railway to Heaven" and "Good Morning Up There" accompanied by Mrs. Gladys Nelson.

Grandsons served as pallbearers, Ray Cook of Des Moines, Donald Simpson of Mason City, Erwin Schroder, Stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, Bob Scott of Blairsburg, Bill Goodsell of Iowa Falls and Verle Blankenship of Galt. Interment was in the Vernon Lutheran Cemetery.

Tillie Duden, Daughter of August and Lena (Behrens) Duden, was born October 28, 1881, near Williams, Iowa. She spent her girlhood in the vicinity of Williams. On March 8, 1898, she was united in marriage to Fred W. Schroder of Galt. They began farming 3 miles south of Galt where they resided until Mr. Schroder passed away on February 20, 1931. With the exception of but a few years Mrs. Schroder spent the remainder of her life on this home place.

Mr. and Mrs. Schroder were the parents of six daughters and four sons, Lena, Minnie, Harry, Gertrude, Caroline, Fern, Marion, Ernest, Earl and Nellie, who died in infancy. Mrs. Schroder was a member of the Bethel Church of God and was active in its work.

Mrs. Schroder passed away at her home May 19 at the age of 72 years, 6 months and 21 days. She is survived by nine children: Mrs. John Carstens, Rock Springs, WY, Mrs. Minnie Denger, Galt, Harry Schroder, Dows, Mrs. James Scott, Galt, Marion Schroder, Tucson AR, Ernest Schroder, Belmond, Earl Schroder, Galt; 22 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Emma Olmstead of Webster City and Mrs. William Carstens of Buckeye; two brothers, William Duden of Williams and August Duden of Roland; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
