December 10, 1883 ---- March 15, 1962

Catherine "Kate" (Baudendistle) Lewison was a descendant of French and German parents. She was born on December 10, 1883 in Gundolsheim, Alsace Loraine, France, to Moritz and Agatha Maria (Kiener) Baudendistle. Her parents, one sister, and Kate emigrated from LeHavre, France to the USA on the ship St Germain arriving in New York, NY October 30, 1884. The family settled in Ripley Township, Dodge County, Minnesota where two brothers and five sisters were born. Kate and her siblings were raised on the family farm in Ripley Township, south of Claremont, MN.

Kate met Lewis (Lew) Lewison in Dodge County, MN. Lew was the son of John Lewison (Johannes Larssen Nessie) and Johanna Marie (Hanson) Lewison, Norwegian and Danish immigrants who farmed east of Hayfield, in Dodge County, MN. Kate and Lew were married September 7, 1904 in the Methodist Church in Dodge Center, MN. They lived briefly in Clarion, Iowa, where son Albert was born, and were long term residents of West St Paul, Minnesota.

Kate was a homemaker and enjoyed entertaining and visiting with her many friends and relatives, particularly her brothers and sisters. She liked playing cards and bunko. She was a good cook. Kate was influenced by her German heritage. She occasionally made German dishes and unique beverages such as dandelion wine. While English was her primary language, she could also speak in German.

Kate died March 15, 1962 at age 78 in Cannon Falls Hospital, Cannon Falls, MN. She was survived by her son Albert Sr "Al" (Nellie) Lewison of Randolph, MN; grandson Albert Jr "Bert" Lewison; two brothers Leo and John Baudendistle; and three sisters Mary Simmons Jones, Anna Brewster, and Margaret Checkel. She was preceded in death by her husband Lew; three sisters Agatha Rosecke, Emma Sibben, and Matilda Jones. Lew died March 15, 1960 at age 84. Kate and Lew were married over 55 years. Both are interred at Acacia Park Cemetery in Mendota Heights, MN.
