The memorial service for John W. Demots will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at Pleasant Grove Church of Christ in Pleasant Grove, with the Rev. Lance Lorenz officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Burial will take place at a later date in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Demots, 79, of Rochester, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, at Edenbrook Nursing Home. John was born Oct. 15, 1937, in Clarion, Iowa, to Andrew and Grace (Peahl) Demots. John attended school in Renrick, Iowa, before joining the Air Force in 1954. On June 10, 1970, he married Karen Gammell. The couple lived in Rochester where John worked as the owner operator of a Mantorville gas station. He also drove cabs and later worked as a dental technician at Truxal Dental before retiring. He is preceded in death by his wife, Karen; his parents; siblings; mother-in-law; and father-in-law.
