Stuart L. Oliver, 76, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, from complications of Alzheimer's, surrounded by his family. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Morningside Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. David Koehler officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today, with family present 5 to 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave.

Stuart was born March 16, 1938, in Sioux City, the son of Kermit L. and Donnabelle (Stuart) Oliver. He grew up in Lawton, Iowa, and graduated from Lawton High School in 1956. He attended Morningside College and graduated with a degree in business. He served with the 185th Air National Guard from 1957 until 1968.

On June 5, 1959, he married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie L. Anderson, in Lawton. They raised four children, Kevin, Kendal, Keith and Cindy.

Stuart owned and operated multiple small businesses and later was a self-employed home contractor for more than 40 years. He retired in 2012. He was a longtime active member of Morningside Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and usher. Stuart belonged to a 500 card club for 57 years. He enjoyed bowling, square dancing, traveling, camping with friends, fishing and woodworking. He also enjoyed attending his children's and grandchildren's activities. One of Stuart's favorite activities was spending the Fourth of July with his family lighting fireworks for the town of Belmond, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; three sons, Kevin (Sheryl) Oliver of Sioux Falls, S.D., Kendal (Keri) Oliver of Olathe, Kan., and Keith (Amy) Oliver of Sergeant Bluff; a daughter, Cindy Oliver of Friendswood, Texas; a sister, Sharleen (Lynn) Sorum of Belmond; a brother-in-law, Jack (Gene) Anderson of California; a sister-in-law, Sally (Larry) Manker of Sioux City; nine grandchildren, Jonathan, Matthew, Jake, Hailey, Karson, Abby, Erin, Mitchel and Lukas; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to Morningside Presbyterian Church, PACE or Hospice of Siouxland. Meyer Bros Morningside Funeral Home;
