Last rites were held here Monday afternoon for Oscar E. Schoonover, 87, who died Nov, 19th in Whitefish, Montana.

Mr. Schoonover was a brother of Harry and Howard Schoonover and had resided here from 1881 to 1900. Mr. Schoonover was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Schoonover and the family moved to Iowa from Oswego, N. Y. in 1860, coming to Eagle Grove in 1881. Mr. Schoonover was prominent in railroad circles many years ago and served as general chairman of the B. of L. E. lodge from 1918 to 1932. He retired from railroad work in 1943.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one son, and one daughter. He is survived by one son, Alvin Schoonover of Hutchinson, Minn. and three brothers, Harry and Howard Schoonover and Fred Schoonover of Cherokee.

Funeral services were held here Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Kastler Funeral home in charge of Rev. Walter Ross. Honorary pallbearers were former railroad friends, W. C. Hathaway, H. A. Pratt, Guy Finley, Henry Kircher, John McDonald, and W. E. Warnes. Active bearers were Albert Magill, Hubert Banks, Alvin Schoonover, Fred Schoonover, Howard Schoonover and Harry Schoonover.

Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery. Those from out-of-town attending the services were, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Schoonover of Hutchinson, Minn., Fred Schoonover of Cherokee, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Magill of Ames, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Roscoe of Alden, Minn., Mrs. Vivian Sweet, Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Laura Rose, Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Doolittle, Mrs. Myrtle Shelton, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Pringle, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Pringle, Lewis Fairchild, Webster City, and Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Lowe of Garner, Mr. and Mrs. Clark, Pierre, S. D.
