October 21, 1931 ----- August 30, 2017

Rose Ann Hilgendorf died Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Unity Point [Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge] following a sudden illness. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at Ullensvang Lutheran Church, Thor, Iowa. There will be no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Rose Ann was born October 21, 1931 at Hampton, IA, daughter of Harley and Elva (Hanselman) Christiansen. She lived in Coulter, LuVerne, and Fort Dodge, IA. She graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High and the State University of Iowa School of Nursing. She married Robert Swan and they were later divorced. She married Larry Hilgendorf and they lived in Fort Dodge and Austin, MN.

Rose Ann is survived by her husband, Larry, daughters Elizabeth (Steve) Schrauth, Fort Dodge and Theresa Leffler, Twin Lakes, son Ted (Karen) Hilgendorf, Isanti, MN.; sister Lora Balzhiser, Johnston; grandchildren Andrea (Kevin) Blagg, Jessica (Ty) Moffitt, Alexandria and Macenzie Leffler, Aaron Thompson, Sarah (Duncan) List, Nicole (Jordan) Ford, Matthew and Rebecca Hilgendorf and great-grandchildren Gabriel and Kaitlyn Blagg and Kymaree and Karter Wheat, nieces, nephews and many friends. Rose Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her sons Michael and Grant and her grandson Tony.

She was employed as a registered nurse at University Hospital, Iowa City, Family Hospital, Estherville and Trinity Regional Hospital, Fort Dodge. She was a Camp Fire Girls leader, a 4-H leader, was active in the church teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and serving in various offices in the women’s organizations. She enjoyed fishing, especially the family trips to Lac Seul, Ontario, quilting, cooking, gardening and wintering in Gulf Shores, AL.

In lieu of flowers, Rose Ann’s wishes were that memorials be sent to Peace Lutheran Church, 8250 Roscoe Rd., Gulf Shores, AL 36542.
