W. S. Benedict Dead
W. S. Benedict, a brother of E. K. Benedict of Clarion, died at his home in Dows late Tuesday evening of last week. The following sketch of his life is taken from the Advocate:

W. Scott Benedict's suffering is ended. Death came to his relief last Tuesday evening at 11 o'clock. The end had been expected for several days and was eagerly welcomed by the pale and wasted sufferer. For more than fourteen years the once vigorous body of Scott Benedict has been racked and worn and tossed with pain. A runaway accident in 1889 doomed him to weary years of suffering, to helplessness and death. But during all those years he was fortunate in having always by his side a devoted wife and helpmate. Such tender nursing and
loving care as has been administered by Mrs. Benedict is seldom witnessed. She has been patient and tender and true.

W. S. Benedict was born at Marion, Linn county, Iowa, fifty-six years ago. He was married twenty-six years ago at Elgin, Ill., to Miss Ada Wilde, who with three children, Lyman, Louis and Eleanor survive him. The family came to Wright county eighteen years ago and have since resided here. They moved to Dows from a farm near Rowan some six years ago. Mr. Benedict was for years one of the steady and industrious farmers of this county. Much could written of him as neighbor and friend. He was an honest man with a kindly heart, devoted to his family, and to his friends.

Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Revs. Skull of Popejoy and MacLeod of Dows. The remains were taken to Walker for burial accompanied by members of the family.
