Vincent, IA — Caroline Summers, 96, formerly of Vincent, died Thursday, August 17, 2017 at the Grandview Care Center in Dayton. A service honoring Caroline’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2017 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. A double interment of Caroline and Kenneth Summers cremated remains will be held in Newark Township Cemetery.

Caroline is survived by her children; Roger (Arlene) Summers, Fort Dodge; Carol Locke, Otho; and Helen Schroeder, Somers; six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth, sons-in-law Mike Locke and Roger Schroeder, and her siblings Fred, Lillian, Walter and Mildred.

Caroline Ruth Heidick, the daughter of Fred and Minnie (Segar) Heidick, was born March 23, 1921. She attended Fort Dodge Senior High. On August 2, 1941, Caroline was united in marriage to Kenneth Summers in Fort Dodge. They made their home in Vincent. Caroline did childcare in her home and had a special place in her heart for Mama Sums kids; Debbie, Kevin and Lori. In retirement years, Caroline enjoyed antiques, crafting and flea markets. She enjoyed time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
