April 1, 1895 ---- December 6, 1939

Funeral services for Meredith E. Haines of Sioux City, were held at the Kubitschek & Kastler funeral home Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. A. S. Kilbourn officiating. Mrs. Fannie Cotton and Mrs. Vina Hall sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," and "Sometime We'll Understand," with Mrs. Kate Martin, accompanist. Burial was in the family lot at Rose Hill cemetery.

Meredith E. Haines, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Haines, was born at Kenwood, Iowa, April 1, 1895, and was suddenly taken out of this life, in an automobile accident near LeMars December 6, 1939, his age being, at the time of his death, forty-four years, eight months and five days.

On July 5, 1915, he was united in marriage with Miss Esther Thomason of Eagle Grove. To this union
were born two children, an infant son, who died on November 8, 1918, and whose funeral was held on the original Armistice Day, and a son, Donald, who survives.

During the intervening years, the family has lived in Sioux City, Des Moines, Council Bluffs and Eagle Grove, where he has carried on his work of contractor and builder. His residence was in Sioux City at the time of his death.

Besides the wife and son, there remain to mourn his loss, his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. A. Haines of Storm Lake, a sister, Mrs. Estella Abbott of Deer River, Minn., and a brother, Otto Haines, of Storm Lake.
