Last Rites For Miss Lena Severson

Miss Lena Severson, 63, died Sunday morning at her home at 811 E. 4th St. North following a two year illness. Miss Severson had a stroke about two and one half years ago, and had been in failing health since that time. She is survived by two brothers, Helmick and Albert Severson, with whom she made her home. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Evangelical Lutheran church, in charge of the pastor Rev. K. R. Torvik. Interment was in the family lot at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Lena Severson, daughter of Ole H. and Bertha Severson was born April 25, 1887 on the farm east of Eagle Grove in Dayton Twp., Wright County, Iowa. She resided on the farm and attended school in Dayton Twp. She took care of her invalid mother for many years, and after that kept house for her father and two brothers. In 1920 the family moved to Eagle Grove where she has resided until her death Easter Sunday morning, April 9, 1950.

She was preceded in death by her parents whom she cared for a long time. The father passed away in 1928. Lena was taken ill with a light stroke about two and half years ago and gradually getting worse until the night of April 8th having a very severe stroke at that time causing her death. She was baptized by Rev. H. C. Holm and confirmed in the Christian faith at the age of fourteen. Lena was a good housekeeper and very trustworthy in everything she undertook.

She is survived by her two brothers, Helmick and Albert, both of Eagle Grove. Funeral services were held at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, at Eagle Grove, Iowa at 1:30 p.m., April 11, 1950 after a prayer service at the home. Rev. Kenneth Torvik officiated. Interment was in the family lot at Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove, Iowa.
