W. F. INSEL, 67, DIED FRIDAY

Eagle Grove Man Had Lived Here Half-Century;
Masonic Services Held at Grave;

W. F. "Henry" Insel, a resident in Eagle Grove for more than a half century, died suddenly at his home here Friday afternoon. He had not reported being ill and was up and around as usual. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, at the Kubitschek & Kastler Funeral Home with the Rev. Albert S. Kilbourn officiating. Sacred duets were sung by Frank Wells and Mrs. Vina Hall. Burial was in the Rose Hill cemetery where the Masonic services were conducted.

W. F. Insel was born in Rochester, N Y., Jan. 10, 1871, the son of Mr. and Mrs. August Insel. He came to Eagle Grove when he was 18 years old and obtained his first job here working as a stone mason. Later he entered the hotel business, working as a clerk for Oscar Young, proprietor of the Occidental Hotel. In 1892, he was married to Miss Margaret Sullivan at Webster City. Shortly after his marriage he started a restaurant at the corner of Broadway and Park avenue, which he managed for several years. In 1899 he purchased the Occidental Hotel from Mr. Young, selling out his restaurant business shortly afterwards. He operated the Occidental for 17 years, selling 22 years ago. Mr. Insel was always active and interested in the affairs of the community and took a genuine interest in the welfare of his friends and neighbors. He was also very active in the Masonic lodge, having been a 32nd degree Mason. He was a member of the Hotel Men's Association, Modern Woodmen and the Elks Club.

He is survived by his widow, one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Smith of Fairport, N. Y.; and a niece, Mrs. Erva Sickels, also of Fairport.
