Mrs. Carrie Davis was the daughter of Job. L. and Sarah E. Jones, being born on July 10, 1876, at Menlo, Iowa, and was the fifth child of a family of six children, three boys, three girls. She lived with her parents at Menlo, Iowa until December, 1883 when they moved to Lake City, Iowa, where she continued to live with them until 18 years of age when she moved to Eagle Grove, where she was married to George Gardner, January 25, 1898. To this union were born two children, Arthur and John the latter dying in infancy. On August 10, 1907, she lost her husband, George Gardner, and from that time on she supported herself and son Arthur, until her marriage in Washington, D. C. on Sept. 3, 1913, to Benjamin F. Davis, of Mill Grove, Ind. They made their home at Mill Grove, until the date of her death in the early hours of June 19, 1917, being 40 years, 11 months and 9 days old.

She is survived by an aged father, her husband, son and two brothers; her mother, one son, two sisters and a brother having gone on before. Her son is in Texas. She was baptized into the Christian church in December, 1888. In January, 1914, she acknowledged faith in and became a member of the United Brethren church of Mill Grove, Ind.. and has since continued in that faith. The remains were brought to Eagle Grove last Friday and funeral services were held at the W. W. Gardner home on Fifth street, Friday afternoon with Rev. Acheson of the M. E. Church in charge. Music was furnished by Misses Thorpe and Messrs. Chas. Gross and Worthington, accompanied by Miss McDonough. The pall bearers were Albert Peterson, Frank Wells, F. C. Bonner, Frank Cole, Howard Schoonover and Ward Barnes. The burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
