Joan Jacobson, 93, Formerly from Jewell, died Tuesday July 25, 2017 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. For the past five years she has resided at Crestview Apartments in Webster City. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday July 29, 2017 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell with Pastor David Nerdig officiating. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. the same day prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell.

Beverly Joan Jacobson the daughter of Noble and Helen (Lyndsey) Yeager, was born on September 24, 1923 in Eagle Grove, IA. Joan graduated from Webster City and was later married to Vernon Jacobson on August 3, 1946 at The Little Brown Church in Nashua. To this union three children: Kathy (Jim) Fitzgerald of Aurora, IL, Cindy (Nick) Fonken of Kamar, IA, and Joel (Marsha) Jacobson of Waukee, IA, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren were born. The family farmed near Jewell until moving to town in 1976. Joan worked as a dental assistant and then for South Hamilton Schools until her retirement. Joan spent hours working crossword puzzles and loved playing cards with family and friends. She had a great sense of humor that was contagious to all.

Survivors include three children, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, siblings; Merle (Doris) Yeager of Texarkana, TX, Bonnie (Paul) Ford of White Bear Lake, MN, Bruce (Myrna) Yeager of Chaska, MN, and Sisters-in-law Shirley Yeager of Webster City, IA, and JoAnn Yeager of Lodi, CA; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband Vernon, and siblings; Jane (Woody) Widdowson, Gayle (Bud) Elm, Kay (Don) Fisher, Bus (Frankie) Yeager, Harlan (Sharon) Yeager, Robert Yeager, Carroll Yeager, and Dennis Yeager.

Joan was a loving wife and Mother and will be missed by all who had the opportunity to know her. Let us give thanks to God for the Life and Memory of Joan Jacobson. Soderstrum Reimers Funeral Home in Jewell, IA is assisting the family with arrangements.
