September 28, 1904 --- November 16, 1999

PITTSFIELD -- Desdemona A. Lathrop, 95, a former longtime resident of Pittsfield, died Tuesday at Genesis ElderCare Pleasant View Nursing Home, Concord, N.H., where she had resided for the past few years.

Born in Black Brook, N.Y., on Sept. 28, 1904, daughter of David and Bridget Devins Boudreau, she was a graduate of Pittsfield High School and the former Berkshire Business College. She lived in Pittsfield and in Lanesboro for many years. She and her husband, Lyle V. Lathrop, owned and operated Lathrop Orchard in Lanesboro for many years. Mr. Lathrop died in 1972.

Mrs. Lathrop was a longtime parishioner of St. Charles' Church. She was very active in local and state PTA organizations and was a past president of the Massachusetts PTA. She was awarded life membership in 1963.

She leaves a son, Scott L. Lathrop of Durham, N.H.; a daughter, Lyla Prince of Santee, Calif.; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Nov. 19, at noon at St. Charles' Church, 89 Briggs Ave., Pittsfield, with the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor, as celebrant. The family would like to invite friends and relatives for a time of visitation from 11 a.m. to noon, prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The WATERS FUNERAL HOME, Concord, N.H., is in charge of arrangements.
