DAVENPORT -- Lester H. Levien, of Davenport, Iowa, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, at Davenport Lutheran Home. Celebration of Life services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21 at the Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Lion's Club of Davenport.

Mr. Levien was born Jan. 13, 1918, in Wright County, Iowa to Herman and Elsie (Peckenschneider) Levien. He married Florine E. Hass Oct. 12, 1947, in Davenport. She died Dec. 30, 2002. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was owner and operator of three coin laundromats and was a realtor for Ruhl and Ruhl. He was a Mason and also belonged to the Davenport Lions Club. He enjoyed coaching softball, bowling, golfing, and playing cards. Survivors include daughter, Nancy Levien, of Dexter, Michigan; daughter and son-in-law, Joann and John Mayfield, of Davenport; sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Bekki Levien, of Corvallis, Oregon and Craig and Laura Levien, of Davenport; eleven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; and two brothers, with whom he was a triplet, Lawrence and his wife, Mildred Levien, of Hot Springs, Ark. and Lloyd Levien, of Iowa City. He was preceded in death by a brother, Leo Levien, of Ft. Dodge and daughter-in-law, Barb Levien.
