BETTENDORF — Funeral services for our mother, Anne M. Parsons, 94, will be Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at noon at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main St., Davenport. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Anne died Tuesday Nov. 17, 2015, at Iowa Masonic Nursing Home, Bettendorf.

Anne Margaret Kjar was born Feb. 2, 1921, in Rowan, Iowa, the daughter of Jens Nielsen and Margaret Sophia (Detlefsen) Kjar. She graduated from Rowan High School. Anne Margaret Kjar was united in marriage to Charles S. Parsons April 14, 1941, in Rowan. He preceded her in death Feb. 3, 1991. Anne was a loving and dedicated mother and homemaker. She was a volunteer and employee of the Davenport Friendly House. She also was manager for the former Erickson Oil gas station at Brady and 18th streets. Anne loved reading, knitting and crossword puzzles. Anne was named the Des Moines Register Iowa High School Girls Basketball Player of the week for two weeks during the 1936-1937 seasons.

Memorials may be made to Jane’s Place at CASI.

Survivors include her children, Patricia Campbell, West Des Moines, Iowa, Mary Angerer (Cliff), Bettendorf, Jean Houston, Davenport, Deborah Brown (Terry), Davenport, Julie Rodriguez (Rick), Rock Island, and Lorie Haynes (Chris), Aurora, Ill.; sons, Gregory Parsons (Mary), Colorado Springs, Colo., Charles Parsons (Rhonda), Bettendorf, Barry Parsons (Tracy), Davenport, and Thomas Parsons, Davenport; 29 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Sena Keleher, Rochester, N.Y. Anne was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Elsie Schlei; brothers, Paul Kjar and Nels Kjar; a grandson, Dan Houston; a granddaughter, Wendy Campbell; and a great-granddaughter, Vittoria Willey. May they rest in peace.
