Davenport, Iowa --- Services for Lumir E. "Lew" Milota, 91, of 2110 Fairhaven Road, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today. Mr. Milota died Tuesday at Manor Care, Davenport. He retired in 1985 after 55 years as an independent insurance agent. Mr. Milota married Margaret Axon in 1928 [June 14] in Goldfield, Iowa. He was a member of various professional insurance associations, past president and a 50-year member of Davenport Kiwanis, a founder and original organizer of the Commission on Aging for Senior Iowans, now known as the Center for Aging Services Inc., and a charter member of the former Davenport Club. He also received the Silver Beaver award of the Boy Scouts of America; was past president of the United Fund of Scott County; an elder and former treasurer of First Presbyterian Church, Davenport; a member of the Outing Club; and a 50-year member of Trinity Masonic Lodge 208. His hobbies and interests included yard work and gardening, especially roses. Memorials may be made to CASI or First Presbyterian Church, Davenport. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Peg (Mrs. Richard) Wells, Davenport; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
