Betty Jane Wesenberg was born June 9, 1929 to Harold and Clara May (Williams) Hackbarth. Betty graduated from Dows High School in 1946. The following year on June 22, 1947, she was united in marriage to Dwight Sheldon Wesenberg. Betty and Dwight were blessed with two children, Jane Ann (Wesenberg) Moore and Daniel Ray Wesenberg.

Betty was a devoted mother and wife. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, and music. A lifelong member of the Morgan United Methodist Church, she served as president of UMW and treasurer of the church. She helped direct the church choir and sang along with her husband Dwight. Throughout her life, Betty enjoyed giving private piano and organ lessons for many years both at her home and in Mason City. Additionally, she spent most of her time farming alongside Dwight. Together, they spent Christmas vacations with their children in the warm weather of Aransas Pass, Texas each year. After the children had left the house, they continued the tradition of the trip until they found it too difficult to travel.

Betty was a lifetime learner. She was a member of the Morgan Study Club and enjoyed emailing her children and grandson in addition to surfing the web. In her later years, Betty enjoyed painting and assembling woodworking projects with Dwight which they sold at craft fairs, both near and far.

Betty is survived by her daughter Jane (John) Moore of Rockford, Illinois, her son Dan (April) Wesenberg and their son Daniel of Zionsville, Indiana; sister Joan (John) Bramble of Cecilton, Maryland and sister-in-law Mariana of Mount Pleasant; brother Don Hackbarth of Hampton, along with other relatives and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dwight in 2015, and brother Ron Hackbarth.
