Faye J. (Van Buskirk) Mewes

Faye J. Mewes, 80, of Kanawha died Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M Monday, June 26, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in Kanawha with Pastor Mark Heath officiating. Burial will be in Amsterdam Township Cemetery in Kanawha. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 P.M., Sunday, June 25, 2017 at the Ewing Funeral Home in Kanawha and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Faye J. Mewes, the daughter of Loyd and Annie (Brass) Van Buskirk, was born September 4, 1936 on a farm northwest of Goodell. She attended grade school in Goodell. Faye graduated from Kanawha High School in 1953 and attended Hamilton Business College in Mason City. On February 27, 1955 she married Don Mewes at the Kanawha Methodist Church. She was a member of the Kanawha United Methodist Church.

Faye is survived by her husband Don, of Kanawha; two daughters, Deborah (Ken) Quintus of Garner and Ann Mewes of Hamilton, Montana; seven grandchildren, Brandie (Chris) Puryear, Emily (John) Kriese, Jacob Mewes, Tony Mewes, Samantha Mewes, Ellen (Eric) Schulte, and Lauren (Nathanael) Gilkerson; sixteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Carol (Richard Lauren) of Searcy, Arkansas, Harriet Baker of Dallas, Texas, and Ina Brinkman, Ventura; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant children, Doreen and Steven, son, Greg (2006); grandson, Reed Quintus; three sisters, Loree Yager, Earlene Finn, Audrey Mennenga; and three brothers, Owen, Earl, and Gerald Van Buskirk.
