Mr. Holman, who was about 74 years of age, lived in Hawarden with his family for a period of eight or ten years in the last 80's and early 90's during which time he was employed as an engineer for the North Western Railway Company. They moved from here to Eagle Grove more than thirty-five years ago where they continued to reside until about four years ago when Mr. Holman was placed on the pension roll of the railway company. They then moved to Long Beach, Calif., where they resided until Mrs. Holman's death which occurred on Jan. 19th of this year. Mrs. Holman's body was brought to Hawarden for burial and since that time Mr. Holman has made his home with his daughter in Illinois.
Mr. and Mrs. Holman had been married for nearly 48 years at the time of her death. Six children were born to them but four of them preceded their parents in death and are buried in Grace Hill cemetery. The two surviving children are Mrs. Paul Braden of Pekin, Ill., and Mrs. W. R. Baker of Eagle Grove.
