NEW VIENNA, Iowa - Merlin H. Schreiber, 58, New Vienna, formerly of Eagle Grove, died Thursday, May 11, 2017, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born on April 5, 1959, in Belmond, Iowa, son of Henry and Mae (Ennen) Schreiber. He married Michele on April 27, 1985, in the city of Dubuque.

Merlin was a man dedicated to his family, as well as his work. His sense of humor and quick wit will be missed by all. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Michele, of New Vienna; three sons, Matthew, Micah (Taylor) and Marshal, all of Dubuque; five daughters, May (Ryan) Nicholson, of Newport News, VA, Marla, Maria, Micayla and Mindy; grandchildren, Madilynn and Allyanna; sister, Marge (Terry) Kuebrich, of Monrose, CO, and brothers Jerry (Mary), of Kanawha, and Kenny (Julie), of Knierem. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Judy (Jim) Ritter and Gloria (George) Riekens; brother, Richard (Elaine) Schreiber; grandson, Ian Nicholson.

A Celebration of Merlin's Life will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 18, at Tri-State Community Church, 12937 Derby Grange Road, Dubuque.
