Dorothea Elle Kimble was born April 29, 1913, at Nevada, Iowa, the daughter of George Anson and Emily W. (Peterson) Kimble. She was raised in Nevada and was the oldest living graduate of the Milford Township Schools Class of 1930. Dorothea was united in marriage to Asa E. White, Jr. on August 11, 1932, at Bethany, MO.

The couple's union was blessed with two sons, Kenneth and Richard White. The couple moved to Belmond, Iowa, in 1939 where they raised their sons and made a life for their family. Dorothea had been a loving and nurturing wife and mother and in addition to being a life long home maker, she had been employed for many years at the Model Cleaners and Waddington's Store in Belmond. She was always a hard worker and kept things very meticulous around her home, she fell and broke her hip at age 95 which eventually forced her to move to the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond where she lived until moving to Westview in Britt.

She enjoyed raising flowers and gardening and was very active in the past in the Belmond United Methodist Church ladies groups, such as the UMCW and various circles. She enjoyed sewing and embroidery and had made many of her own clothes. Dorothea was also an excellent cook. She was active as a volunteer with Meals On Wheels up until age 93 often delivering meals to people younger than her. Asa preceded Dorothea in death on December 10, 1983.

Her family and friends will reflect upon her memory as a truly staunch and forthright lady with pretty matter of fact personality, who loved her family and enjoyed times with the grandkids.

Dorthea is survived by her two sons: Kenneth and Evanette "Evie" White, Belmond, IA, and Richard (Joan Miller) White, Norwalk, IA; grandchildren: Julie (Mark) Richardson, Huxley, IA, Kenneth (Jolene) White, Polk City, IA, Todd (Robin) White, August, MO, Laura (Bruce) Lucier, Shawnee, KS, and Tim (Rhonda) White, Ankeny, IA; 18 great-grandchildren, step grandchildren and great grandchildren, and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Asa E. White, Jr., a brother Virgil Kimble in his childhood, a sister Vivian Mann, and a brother Lowell Kimble.
