Michael DeWayne Westaby, 67, passed away at The Madrid Home on May 17, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2017 in the Sanborn Chapel at the Madrid Home with the family greeting friends one hour before service time. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Alexander Cemetery.

Michael was born June 29, 1949 in Belmond, Iowa to Marlo and Gloria Westaby. He attended Iowa State University for 3 years and graduated with an aviation degree from Central Missouri State. Michael was a commercial pilot for American Airlines, retiring in 2015. He enjoyed airplanes, flying, listening to classical music, and was an avid reader. Michael was a San Diego Chargers fan and an Iowa State Cyclones Fan.

Michael is survived by his daughter, Victoria (Dan) Vinet and their children, Lucas and Lorraine; a son Chip (Amy McQueen) Westaby and their children, Alicia and Jenna; his parents, Marlo and Gloria Westaby; a brother, Kevin (Colette) Westaby; sisters, Lynette (John) Bednarz, Jacki (Wade) Kragel, Jana (Jeff) Winters, and Vicki (Farley) Roe; as well as many nieces and nephews.
