June 30, 1937 ---- May 5, 1997

Lois E. Underberg, 59, died Monday, May 5, 1997 at the Hamilton County Hospital due to complications relating to her lung cancer. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, Clarion, with Rev. Wayne Droessler officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. tonight at Willim Funeral home, Clarion, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Underberg, daughter of Albia and Mildred (Montegomery) Harris, was born on June 30, 1937 on a farm north of Dows. Her mother died giving birth to her, and her grandparents played a big part in raising her. She attended school at Popejoy. On April 27, 1968 she married John Underberg in Clarion. The couple first lived in Dows, then Webster City, and Williams, before moving back to Webster City in March of 1975. Underberg worked at the restaurant in Dows, and for 23 years at the turkey plant at Ellsworth before it closed.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Sheri Atwood, Webster City, and Cindy Harris, Blairsburg; three granddaughters, one grandson; two great-granddaughters; and a brother, David Harris, Webster City. She was preceded in death by her parents and one step brother.
