Garald Allen Ryerson, 67 of Lake Mills, IA, died Sunday, May 21, 2017 at his home in Lake Mills, IA. Memorial service will be 7:00 PM, Wednesday 5/24/2017 evening at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, IA 50450, with Pastor Tom Martin officiating. Military rites will be performed by Lake Mills Otto/Chose American Legion Post #235. Garald’s family will greet friends from 5-7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
Inurnment will take place at a later date at Elk Creek Cemetery in rural Kensett, IA.

Garald Allen Ryerson was born on September 21, 1949 in Belmond, IA, the son of Lawrence and Evelyn Teldora (Johnson) Ryerson. Garald attended both Lake Mills, and Northwood schools and graduated from Northwood High School in 1967. After High School, Garald was drafted in to the United States Army where he served his country from 1968 to 1970. After the service he worked as a self-employed carpenter. He was very proud of his meticulous work. Garald loved playing baseball and watching football and spent many summer days fishing at the cabin on Leech Lake.

He is survived by his sisters, Dorothy (Terrence) Rose of Walker, MN; Carolyn (Mike) Strub of Engleside, IL; Renae Ryerson of Breda, IA; Kimberly Halvorsen of Lake Mills, IA; and brother, Leslie Earl Ryerson of Mason City, IA; along with seventeen nieces and nephews; numerous grand nieces and nephews and a multitude of cousins and one uncle Larry (Sherri) Johnson of Lubbock, TX. He was prededed in death by his parents and three sisters, Janise Bendickson, Luann Ryerson and Sherry Benson.
