Clara L. Stoakes, 84, a resident of Hallmar, died Saturday [September, 22, 1979] following a long illness. Born April 1, 1895, at Belmond, she was married to William M. Stoakes in 1926. A graduate of Iowa State Teachers College (University of Northern Iowa), Cedar Falls, she taught at various locations in Iowa, including Cedar Rapids. She was a member of Westminster United Presbyterian Church, a charter member of Chapter LU of PEO, and belonged to Jane Boyd King's Daughters. Surviving is one sister, Mrs. Duncan McCallum of Mason City.
Services: 1 p.m. Monday at Turner Chapel East by Dr. John P. Woods, Westminster Presbyterian Church. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Mausoleum. Friends may call at Turner Chapel East after noon today. The casket will be closed at 12:45 p.m. Monday and not opened following the funeral service.
