Dows Man is Fatally Hurt in Truck Crash
Lawrence Beisner, 35, died Saturday evening in the Webster City hospital following an automobile accident that forenoon. Mr. Beisner, who lived near the German Lutheran church in Vernon township, was coming to Dows with a truck loaded with three hogs. When about a mile from town something went wrong with the steering apparatus and he lost control of the car and struck the large truck of Capellan & Meyer Produce Co., driven by George J. Meyer. Mr. Meyer tried to avert the collision by driving into the ditch. The county sheriff, a doctor and an ambulance were called. Mr. Beisner’s skull was badly crushed and he was taken from the doctor’s office to the hospital.
Mr. Beisner was married about two years ago, to Mrs. Ora Carpenter. He is survived by his wife, two step children, Russel and Lois Carpenter; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Beisner, four brothers and two sisters, Fred, Everett, Frank, Leonard, Elsie and Inez, all at home or living near Dows, except Leonard, who lives near Williams. The funeral was held Wednesday at the St. Paul’s Lutheran church in Vernon township, the Rev. E. A. Kurtz preaching the sermon. Burial at Fairview cemetery in Dows.
